| Tony's dam, Baby Doe, competing in a Grand Prix in Oregon |
Doughboy (barn name-Tony) is the first foal from the SF/TB cross mare, Baby Doe. She also
was bred and raised by Gay, and enjoyed a long and successful career as a Show Jumper including some Regional Level Grand
Prix classes. Baby Doe's dam was the famous TB broodmare, Shirlee Steel who produced such notable horses
as Armand Leone's Jumper, Encore, Meredith Michael's famous mare, Vogue, Kerri Milikin's Event mare, Landlady, and the Hunter-turned
Dressage stallion, Cloned Steel. Tony's sire, the Quarter Horse, Fax Fast, had a career on the racetrack, and then was purchased
by Gay's next-door-neighbor, Gail Tyson to spearhead her program to breed top level QH race and Barrel Racing horses. His
bloodlines are greatly desired by QH racing people as he was by the leading sire of QH racehorses, First Down Dash who was
by the famous Dash For Cash.
Although we don't see many Quarter Horse names in the pedigrees of Show Jumpers, Tony and his
siblings are the exception that proves the rule, for this appears to be one of those fortunate "nicks" of genetics that demonstrates
all the qualities that one seeks in a Show Jumper, Size, Scope, Jumping Ability, Bravery, and Intelligence. Tony clearly
loves his job, and gallops to the jumps with enthusiasm tempered by obedience. He has a lovely mouth and is responsive to
both leg and hand, all of which makes him a delightfully fun ride at the horse shows.
Tony has enjoyed limited showing the past two years, but has won classes at "A" shows.
He is currently competing at the 1.0 and 1.10 Metre levels. He has been shown by both professionals and amateurs, and is ready
to go to an owner who wants to continue his education, and have a ton of fun during the process.
Not only is Tony enjoyable as a show horse, but he is a super guy to take out on a trail
ride, and will cross water or any type of hazard that gets in his way. He doesn't spook at deer crashing out of bushes,or
at other"surprises". He loves to jump banks and natural fences, and never fusses at Liverpools.
Tony is easy to clip, haul, shoe, and has no known soundness issues. All in all, he should
make a wonderful partner for a Junior of Amateur rider who wants would enjoy putting the finishing touches on a talented and
willing equine athlete.
